Ijeoma P. Mfon-Umoh
Ijeoma P. Mfon-Umoh is a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) leader with over 20 years of experience helping financial institutions strengthen regulatory compliance, improve governance practices, manage risk effectively, and build cultures of accountability.
Her career began in Information Technology at Aptech Computers, where she earned the CPISM certification, before transitioning into financial services with Express Discount Limited (EDL). She joined the Nigerian pension industry in 2005 and has since built a strong track record across compliance, operations, regulatory liaison, and pension administration.
Throughout her career, Ijeoma has served in strategic compliance leadership roles, including Chief Compliance Officer positions at FCMB Pensions Limited and the Nigerian University Pension Management Company Limited (NUPEMCO), where she provided oversight for regulatory compliance, governance, ethics, and risk management initiatives.
She is skilled in designing and implementing compliance frameworks, policies, and programmes that strengthen internal controls and promote organizational accountability. Her professional certifications include GRCP, GRCA, IRMP, and IAIP.
Her expertise is further strengthened by industry-specific training and leadership development programmes focused on team building, organizational effectiveness, and responsible governance.
Ijeoma holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Science in Industrial Sociology and Personnel Management from recognised Nigerian universities, reflecting her strong foundation in people, systems and institutional governance. She is enthusiastic about ethical leadership, good governance, and fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
